Crushed Rock

Crushed Rock can be used for many different projects - from driveway construction to erosion control to decorative mulch. Crushed rock is also ideal for drainage applications and is also used as base material under foundations, roads and railroads. Our Crushed Rock comes from the Souris River Valley. The size range varies from 1/2", 3/4" (7/8") up to 1-1/2". (Call our office to see what sizes are in stock.)

Crusher Dust

Crusher Dust is the material leftover when making crushed rock. As rocks run through the crusher, tiny pieces (grit) of rock and dust particles are left behind. This byproduct is recycled and becomes a valuable product with many practical uses in both commercial construction and home projects. Crusher dust works well as a base layer under concrete slabs, water tanks, piping and anything that will be paved or covered over. It is also a good option for driveways and walkaways as the material packs tightly.

Screened Rock

Screened Rock, similar to Pea Rock and River Rock, has been screened out to 1" size. Similar to Pea Rock with smooth edges as opposed to a crushed aggregate. Can be used for drainage, dog runs, driveways and for decorative purposes. The size range is 3/4" to 1".

River Rock

River Rock is generally used for drainage, to control erosion, create dry river beds, water features or accent flower beds. River rock is a product of nature coming from an area where flowing water once gently rounded each stone. It is then screened out leaving you with naturally smooth-edged stones. The size range is 4"-6".

Pea Rock

Pea Rock is small, rounded pebbles. They are also referred to as pea gravel. Each stone is smooth and rounded (not chipped and jagged). Pea gravel is used in landscaping for paths, patios and other areas with foot traffic, as well as a decorative (and functional) mulch although it doesn't provide the same structural support as a properly prepared base of compacted crushed stone. It is best when it's used either between structural paving stones or on top of a properly-compacted base. Pea Rock is ideal for drainage applications. The size range is 3/8"-1/2" in size.

Slag

Slag, classed as a synthetic aggregate, is a byproduct of smelting iron and steel and can be classified as ferrous. Slag can be used as an alternative to traditional aggregates like gravel when building driveways. The size range of the Slag is 3/4"-1".

Limestone

Limestone is a common type of carbonate sedimentary rock. Composed mostly of the minerals calcite and aragonite. Limestone forms when these minerals precipitate out of water containing dissolved calcium. Limestone often contains fossils. Limestone offers a variety of neutral colours from creamy white, beige and some even containing a pinkish hue. The size range of the Limestone is approximately 3/4"-1". Our Limestone comes from naturally occurring parts of Manitoba.

Black Lava Rock

Black Lava Rock is a rock where the magma on the ground has cooled and solidified. This naturally occurring rock from B.C. is the end product of volcanic activity. Just like the Red Lava Rock, Black also holds moisture, helping garden beds retain water and reduce weeds. Lava Rock adds dimension and contrast to your landscaping projects. The size range of the Black Lava Rock is approximately 3/4"-1". Due to this being a natural product, there may be some variations in colour; meaning you may come across some rocks that have a little reddish hue to them.

Red Lava Rock

Red Lava Rocks contain a natural brick red colour, formed from the oxidation of iron during volcanic eruptions. Our lava rock comes from the beautiful British Columbia. One of lava rock's characteristics is that it holds moisture; meaning that it helps garden beds retain water. Lava rock does not have the same kind of tendency of breaking down, like bark mulches and therefore involves less maintenance/labour. Lava rock also reduces the likelihood of weeds. The size range of the Red Lava Rock is 3/8" to 1". This rock instantly adds beauty and value to any landscape.
